Andrea Francolino
Andrea Francolino (Bari, 1979) lives and works in Milan. His artistic reflection is concentrated on the crack, for its universality and ‘infinite variants’, without criticism or prejudice. “Looking at a crack is like looking at the universe, I reflect on the meaning of life and the meaning of things", the artist explains. Taking a multidisciplinary approach spanning, aesthetic, ethic and ecology, Francolino tries to honour Nature in his works and has coined the term econcrethic, a combination of the words eco (eco), etico (ethical) and concreto (concrete), to describe his work with natural materials. Andrea is one of the four founders of The Open Box, a non-profit art space inaugurated in 2015 in Milan.
