GILBERTO ZORIO
Gilberto Zorio (born in 1944 in Andorno Micca, Biella) Lives and works in Turin. He is one of the main protagonist of the "Arte Povera", movement formed in the mid-sixties in Italy. Zorio renews the language of sculpture, freeing it from the fixity and heaviness to which it had traditionally been associated. Energy is the constant that runs through the entire work of the artist. The star, a recurring cosmic figure in Gilberto Zorio's work, appears in 1972 for the first time in a work in which an animal skin becomes a self-portrait by the artist himself (the star is instead of the eyes). Energy is the constant that runs through his entire work. The star, a recurring cosmic figure in Gilberto Zorio's work, appears for the first time in 1972 in a work in which an animal skin becomes a self-portrait by the same artist. The narrative dimension is often present in Zorio's works, in the form of a fantastic tale that crosses space and time.
